Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang's Remarks on Taiwan's Response to South China Sea Arbitration Ruling
2016/07/12

Q: On July 12, Taiwan authority said in response to the South China Sea arbitration ruling that it has rights over the South China Sea islands and relevant waters in terms of international law and maritime law, and the ruling concerning Taiping Dao has seriously eroded such rights. The ruling is not legally binding. What is your comment?

A: We have noted relevant reports. The arbitration case is nothing but a political farce that is illegal. Our territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests in the South China Sea, which we are determined to safeguard, will not be affected a bit by the ruling. Chinese people across the Strait are duty-bound and obliged to jointly preserve the ancestral land of the Chinese nation.
