Ambassador Chen Li gives a speech at the Paasikivi Society

On 7th May, 2019, at the invitation of the Paasikivi Society, Ambassador Chen Li gave a speech to introduce the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI). Around 200 people, including members of the Society as well as diplomats accredited in Helsinki, attended the event. The event is hosted by H.E. Mr. Matti Vanhanen, member of the Finnish Parliament, former Prime Minister and Chairman of the Society.

In his speech, Ambassador Chen shared knowledge about the BRI, answered some of the common questions, and talked about the bilateral cooperation between China and Finland under the framework of BRI. In Q&A session, Ambassador Chen answered questions regarding China-US trade negotiation, Arctic cooperation, Chinese investment to Europe, etc.

The Paasikivi Society was founded in Helsinki in 1958, aiming at exchanging opinions on the issues of international and foreign policy. There are more than 3000 members e.g. leading politicians, government officials, scientists, businessmen and citizens of different groups, representing different political views.
