On March 25, Ambassador Chen Li lodged stern representations with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland over EU's sanctions against relevant Chinese individuals and entity under the pretext of human rights issues in Xinjiang.

Ambassador Chen stated that the EU imposed unilateral sanctions on relevant Chinese individuals and entity, citing the so-called human rights issues in Xinjiang. This move grossly interferes in China's internal affairs and severely undermines China-EU relations. China firmly opposes and strongly condemns this. The Chinese side urges the EU side to recognize the seriousness of its wrongdoings, rectify them and put an end to the confrontation and interference in China’s internal affairs in order to avoid greater damage to China-EU relations. China's will and determination to safeguard its sovereignty, security and development interests are unwavering.
