Nanjing Little Red Flower Art Troupe Debuts in Finland


On May 21, the renowned art troupe of China, Nanjing Little Red Flower gave an artistic show in the Alexander Theater in Helsinki, Finland. The show was organized by the Embassy of China in Finland. The First Lady of Finland, Mrs. Jenni Haukio, Ambassador Chen Li and his spouse, Mrs. Qin Sa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland, Ms. Jaana Husu-Kallio, and a total of 400 representatives from diplomatic corps, Finnish communities and overseas Chinese in Finland were present.

Ambassador Chen Li delivered a welcome speech and noted that in China, children embody "flower" of the country and red is a favorite color of the Chinese. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, and the Embassy of China will organize various events to celebrate it.

The show, featuring dances, vocal and instrumental music performances with strong flavors of the traditional Chinese culture, was highly praised by the audience. Before coming to Helsinki, the Little Red Flower also visited Tampere.

Founded in the 1950s, the Nanjing Little Red Flower Art Troupe became well-known not only in China but also in many countries. Dated back in 1978, it was the first Chinese children's art troupe that visited foreign countries. Till now it has performed in over 30 countries abroad, and won quite a number of awards.
