HE Ambassador Huang Xing visits Meilahden School Upper Stage

    On 23 August 2011, HE Ambassador Huang Xing visited the Meilahden Comprehensive School and attended the ceremony of textbooks
 
donation on behalf of Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters and the Chinese Embassy in Finland.

    At 10.30, the Ambassador arrived at the school, met by a group of teachers and students who are in the project of A-level Chinese language and Finnish language curriculum. The principal, Ms Riitta Erkinjuntti, then made an introduction of the school and the progress about the Finnish Chinese bilingual education program in the school.

 

 

     The Meilahden Comprehensive School Upper Stage is at west of Helsinki city, with 352 students, 54 teachers and staff. The school started the A-level Finnish Chinese language curriculum in 2008, and now with students of 150 with the program at primary school.

    At the ceremony of textbooks donated by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters, the Ambassador handed some gift books to Ms Riitta Erkinjuntti. The total donated textbooks from Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters are 528 copies, including textbooks of students and dictionaries with DVD and CD-ROM. It is the first time that the textbooks, which are used in Finland in Chinese language teaching, are written by both Chinese and Finnish languages.

   The diplomat from Chinese embassy education section also attended the visit.
