|What is "FaLun Gong"?|
YLE 1 broadcasted a Current Affairs Documentary and subsequent news concerning "Falun Gong" at 8 pm on 7th May, 2012, which depicted "Falun Gong" as something "nice" and "healthy". It is a true pity that these programs performed as a mouthpiece of "Falun Gong" which might have misleading impacts on the Finnish public.
"Falun Gong", also known as "Falun Dafa", was founded by Li Hongzhi in China in the early 1990s. Deeming himself the only savior, dominating the universe and superior to Buddha and Jesus, Li claims that mankind has been destroyed 81 times, and he has delayed the explosion of the earth by 30 years. He said that the mankind is corrupted, and the earth is the biggest dumping ground of the universe, and that by practicing "Falun Gong", the "true law" above all religion, one would never become sick or get in danger. He even claims that the Holocaust of Jewish people by Hitler was a result of the changes in celestial phenomena. The above preachings are just a sketch of the absurd dogmas of "Falun Gong".
The organizations under the society are very systematic in spreading orders from Li Hongzhi and information via modern communications. Li Hongzhi, like Jim Jones of the People's Temple, and David Koresh, brainwashed practitioners by ordering them to read his books and teachings every day. He forbids his followers to consult doctors or take medication when falling ill. As a result, according to incomplete statistics, over 1,000 practitioners died because they followed Li's teachings and refused to seek medical treatment for their illnesses. Several hundred practitioners committed self-mutilation or suicide. Over 30 innocent people were killed by mentally deranged practitioners of "Falun Gong". These terrible facts are only part of those that "Falun Gong" wants to keep out of knowledge of the public.
Thus, "Falun Gong" is by all means a cult. To prevent "Falun Gong" from causing more tragedies, Chinese government outlawed "Falun Gong" in China in accordance with law in 1999. Regrettably, it has been proved that this cult organization has been receiving regular ill-gotten gains from certain institutions for the obvious purpose of staging anti-China activities.
We do hope that the Finnish people could receive full-picture background information and make own judgment on the true nature of this organization.
